Paris tragedy aftermath conclusions

This is from a friend called Elisabeth Gerlach. I couldn't agree more...Thanks Elisabeth for sharing this.

"In summary: Nobody should have been killed over those cartoons. Fuck those cartoons."
What happened in Paris in the course of the last days is condemnable, tragic and sad. What happened in the majority of western media after is too. Spreading Charlie Hebdo's racist publications with full force in the name of "freedom of speech" is a victory for xenophobia.
Two years of my history lessons in school revolved around the Third Reich in the spirit of educating about the horrendous things that happened in the past to ensure they will not be repeated in the future. In textbooks I looked at uncountable racist, race baiting and ultimately dangerous comic strips depicting Jews as the end to German society as it was known. Not once did my teachers tell me though that that was okay because of "freedom of speech".
Feel free to disagree with me but if you haven't yet, please at least consider broadening your perspective. Charlie Hebdo's publications are not glorious defenders of the freedom of speech that "those muslims" are just too touchy about. They are anti-Islam, frequently sexist and homophobic. The recent events give us two reasons to be sad: The tragic loss of human life due to blind terror and the the tragic decrease of hope for a culturally inclusive Europe.
